TOOP Sustainability - what happens when the project ends

Within the TOOP project, certain results of a technical nature, including technical specifications and software components, have been developed. One of the main goals of the project is to sustain and keep these results available for use and exploitation, including after the project’s termination. By recognition of the relevant stakeholder groups, these assets are likely to be re-used in the development of technical solutions that implement the Once-Only Principle (OOP), more than any other project results.

After a thorough analysis the Management Board of the project came to the conclusion to propose to the Beneficiaries transfer ownership of all relevant results to a third party. This third party ONCE-ONLY.ORG is the organisation founded to facilitate and promote international cooperation of public and private stakeholders aiming to advance and enhance the once-only principle and other underlying principles for e-Governance and the interoperability solutions and practices that support them. Furthermore, the organisation shall ensure the sustainability of the tangible and intangible outcomes of the once-only principle project as well as to provide a supporting environment that enables piloting and further development of new technologies. The purpose is also to propose a framework that intends to achieve the sustainability goals by means of a methodology that integrates sustainability in both the planning and management tasks and that can serve as a basis for the implementation of an information system aligned with a business strategy.
